Midweek Buffet

Spent yesterday in my craft room and have some fun cards to share. The first features a playful cat from Eureka Stamps, and the little pumpkin balloon is a several decades  old Azadi Earles wood mounted stamp. Both were favorites of my moms, and I am so glad that I inherited them. They always make me think of her when I take them out to play!

This great sketch plus the neat “EEK!” image are both free digis from createwithtlc.blogspot.com
I am entering the card into a CAS challenge that required the two bright colors. I kinda like it!

I’ve been doing so many CAS cards lately, that I almost didn’t know how to start on this neat Tiddly Inks image named “Little Conductor.”  Colored the scene with my Spectrum Noir alcohol makers (I’m slowly learning how to use them) and decided to add a sentiment that will encourage the little train lover that I’ll be sending this to for his upcoming birthday.

My last card for this posting is another free digi from TLC  Creations (createwithtlc.blogspot.com ) I signed up for the bloggers newsletter a while ago and love the vintage feel of many of the digis she provides. I printed this one off on Kraft cardstock and lightly colored Santa’s face with alcohol markers. Then highlighted his face, hair, eyebrows and beard, plus furry collar, hat and cuffs with a white gel pen. Added red and green chalk, in rich shades, to the card, and mounted it on patterned paper with photo corner accents. Printed the sentiment on my computer and topped it off with a strip of forest green seam binding that is so old it is starting to disintegrate. (Figure that just adds to the vintage feel of the card!) On the inside I added a SU sentiment, plus a wonderful “Truth about Santa Clause” article that was published in a Salvation Army newsletter back in the early 70’s. (Yes… I’ve been a collector of such things since I was a child. So… it is no surprise that I love paper crafting!)

I’ll share the article here so that you can easily read it. And the original didn’t cite the source. So, if it’s you… please let me know!

The Truth About Santa Claus
In the fourth century A.D., there was in Asia Minor an impoverished little town called Myra.  Nicholas, the Christian bishop of this town was known for his generosity.  To avoid embarrassing the recipients, he gave anonymously.  In one account, he threw a bag of gold through the window of a poor man to serve as dowries for his daughters.
Nicholas, you see, had been given a gift far superior to any earthly possession.  He had been given the gift of a Savior, God's own Son who came to take away the sins of the world.  He was eager to share the good news of the risen Savior with any who had ears to hear.  This greatest Gift was too precious to keep to himself.  Today, we know this humble bishop as Saint Nicholas or Santa Claus.
During the coming days, as the nation prepares for Christmas, we can enhance the lives around us by sharing the legend of Saint Nicholas. All the gifts that he gave, and all we give, are to remind us of the greatest gift ever given... that of God giving His only Son for our salvation.
